Acupuncture Point Profile: GB34

Most of the points we do in our clinic are below the elbows and knees. One of the more common locations we choose is the point gallbladder 34.

Located anterior and inferior to the head of the fibula on the lower leg, GB34 is the meeting point of the sinews (think tendons and muscles). Because of this, it can be used to treat disorders of the soft tissue anywhere in the body. The gallbladder channel runs along the sides of the body, all the way to the head, so needling this point can treat pain in the hips, ribs, head, and any pain that may radiate down the leg (like sciatica). It is also one of the primary channels, and points, we use when treating migraine headaches. Additionally, the location of GB34 is a mirror for the elbow and the neck. We will often use GB34 when treating tennis elbow or chronic neck pain for these reasons.

So the next time you come for a treatment, donโ€™t be surprised if we needle GB34.
