Do you do acupuncture to help someone stop smoking?

Yes, acupuncture can be very effective for kicking the habit! Most acupuncturists who offer smoking cessation treatment are going to be using the National Acupuncture Detoxificatoin Association (NADA for short) protocol. The NADA protocol was developed by Michael Smith, MD at Lincoln Hospital in New York, as an alternative to methadone treatment for drug addiction. It consists of five acupuncture points in the ear, and is remarkably effective at reducing withdrawal and cravings while boosting willpower and helping patients to relax while breaking their addiction. While each person is different, we generally recommend daily treatment the first week of trying to quit, with treatments becoming less and less frequent over time as patients overcome their addiction. To make sure that money doesn’t get in the way of stopping the habit, if someone is coming to see us just for the ear treatment we only charge $5 per visit.
