Acupunture for Neck Pain

Have a pain in the neck? Acupuncture Can Help!

Maybe it is tension from stress; a tightness in the tops of your shoulders causing a dull ache in the base of your skull. Maybe you spend all day bent over a computer and have difficulty straightening up, or even moving your head from side to side. Maybe you have been injured and your neck has not felt the same since; you even get pins and needles in your hands and arms. Or maybe time and use has caught up with your body, leaving your neck feeling more creaky than it used to.

Whatever the cause of the pain in your neck, acupuncture can help. As with most of the treatments done at our clinic, points for neck pain are located below the elbows and below the knees. We routinely use points along the shin to mirror the base of the skull and trapezius muscle to relieve discomfort. Points on the palms of the hands are excellent for releasing tension behind the shoulder blades and points along the outside of the leg alleviate pain along the entirety of the spine.

Depending on the severity and chronicity of your pain, time to see results varies. If it is an acute injury (maybe you moved too many boxes for a friend), healing tends to happen more quickly. More long term issues (i.e. degenerative disc disease or arthritis), take more time to alleviate. With each patient, we recommend a treatment plan based on your symptoms. The closer you are able to stick to that plan, the more quickly you will experience pain relief.

So if your neck hurts, give acupuncture a try. Stop by our Fort Myers acupuncture clinic or schedule online (look for the “Book Now” button on the side of your screen). Let us help relieve that pain in your neck!
